Become a Trustee.

Join our team

We are a small team with big ambitions. We are committed to supporting young creatives and helping them gain access to wide-ranging creative learning and excellent facilities.

Could you help us drive this forward?

We are keen to encourage new Trustees to join us and bring their skills and enthusiasm to help us make a difference. Key skills may include finance, communications, fundraising, relationship building, but you may bring other relevant skills and passions too.

Trusteeships are for nine years maximum (except in exceptional circumstances), with re-election every 3 years.  There is no maximum number of Trustees.

Proud and purposeful

You could help us manage our funds, secure new funding opportunities and deliver initiatives to support university students, children and young people to overcome economic, social and personal barriers to accessing creative learning.

We’d need you to actively participate in quarterly Board meetings (in person in Plymouth or virtually) to help us listen to the ‘student voice’ and young people in the community.

Together, we are:

  • Clear, open and not afraid to speak up
  • Purposeful yet realistic about our time
  • Available, easy to contact, helpful and useful

Training

Trustees are provided with training to allow them to fulfil their roles effectively.  As well as induction booklets, this training in the past has included seminars run by Chartered Accountants.

Trustee Spotlight: Louise Walsh

Louise Walsh, joined the Board of Trustees in June 2022.

“It’s important to support the development of creative individuals, as they have an important role to play in driving innovations in culture, society, health, economic growth and place-making.”

Louise is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and has enjoyed a successful career in fundraising, business development and communications for over 25 years.

Louise works for the South Western Ambulance Charity managing fundraising across a range of portfolios including grants, individual giving, in memory, corporate giving and legacies.

What experience does Louise bring to the Board?

Previously Louise has worked in the Arts and Culture sector as the Fundraiser for The Box in Plymouth, and in the Community and Environment sector as SW Regional Development Manager for Groundwork. She also works in the private sector through her work in her family’s property-based businesses.

Why did Louise want to join?

In her free time, Louise enjoys sharing her time with friends and family at the theatre, museums and live music events. All of which rely on creative talents.

The reason Louise became involved as a Trustee of the AUP Charitable Trust is because she says;

“I believe it is so important to ensure that everyone, regardless of their personal challenges, is supported to access opportunities to find and develop their creative potential. For some, unlocking creative talents helps them to build confidence in themselves and their abilities, and the creative sector can also provide a future career path. ”
